Research

With the help of grants from the Fetzer, Ford, Hewlett, Spencer, and Templeton Foundations, the QLRC is concluding research jointly with Harvard and Stanford Universities on the conditions that make good work in the professions possible.  Areas investigated include business, human genetics, the media, philanthropy, and higher education.  Findings are used to enhance professional training in these areas.

The QLRC is also currently conducting research on the sources of good mentoring with a grant from the Spencer Foundation, and on psychological capital with a grant from the University of Pennsylvania Positive Psychology Center.

Other projects the QLRC is currently pursuing include:

• mentoring and the transmission of knowledge in intergenerational
  relationships
• contributions of art and aesthetics to the quality of life
• challenge and enjoyment in internet chess

The Center welcomes collaboration on projects in line with its basic mission.
